      Matching History with the Landscape in which it was born
                                                  
Day 5    WEDNESDAY  August 06
        Cutting through a series of chasms you glide through a gorge much deeper than the Grand Canyon at Bright Angel Creek (5500 ft.)  Hiking up a beautiful crystal clear stream takes you to
Rock Creek and the McPherson Ranches, where Butch Cassidy's Wild bunch slept.  Optional hiking opportunities take you exploring the red rock canyon walls once home to the Fremont and Ute American Indians.  For an unknown reason the Freemont Indians disappeared here over 750 years ago.  The evening ends with fine cuisine and memorable discussion around the campfire with

Day 6    THURSDAY  August 07
      
Today enjoy more river wandering through rapids and scenic lulls with shimmering side streams, and abundant wildlife as you leave Desolation Canyon and enter into Gray Canyon.  although over thirty adventures to the West won Major Powell power and fame his river quests and mountain ascents were not his highest achievements.  Tonight Clay Jenkinson presents "The Real Genius behind J.W. Day 7    FRIDAY  August 08
       
Your last day on the river.  A sad day as your water expedition winds to a close having traveled over 84 river miles and traversing over 60 rapids.  A splendid shower awaits your arrival!  Early evening allots you all the time needed to peruse The John Wesley Powell Museum of History before adjourning to our traditional farewell dinner party.                       Green River, Utah      Meals BLD

Day 8    SATURDAY  August 09
        
 A leisurely morning brings saying goodbye to friends whose tour departure is from Green River, Utah.  Brace yourself for a reluctant entry back into civilization as your coach bus winds back to Salt Lake City.  You arrive in time for exploring Utah's capital city, shopping or just relaxing before your final dinner.                                                       Salt Lake City, Utah        Meals BD

Day 9    SUNDAY  August 10
